Catalyst Connection announced Tuesday it will move into Hazelwood Green in October 2019, according to a news release.
It will take 8,300 square feet of space on the third floor of a building shared with Carnegie Mellon University and Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing, which it plans to foster partnerships with.
“An economic development organization dedicated to helping small manufacturers in southwestern Pennsylvania improve their competitive performance, this move will accelerate our opportunity to introduce our clients to the new technologies and research personnel at CMU and ARM,” said Petra Mitchell, president and CEO of Catalyst Connection, in a prepared statement.
In the release, Mitchell also said the move marks a strategic step in creating a manufacturing hub in Pittsburgh, which the recent Brookings Report deemed critical to ensuring the region’s focus on research institutions, a highly skilled workforce and advanced manufacturing technology translates into real economic growth.
“Along with our partners, we envision that our colocation will establish an innovation ecosystem and encourage others in our industry to make the move as well,” said Gary Fedder, CMU vice provost for research, in a prepared statement.
Catalyst Connection has operated at a facility on Technology Drive for the past 22 years, just a mile away from its new site at Hazelwood Green.
“Now in closer proximity with Catalyst Connection, we will be able to work jointly on workforce development and securing the future of manufacturing in the U.S. through innovation, collaboration and education,” said Byron Clayton, CEO of ARM, in a prepared statement.
