Lucky Vidmar helps major international companies navigate disputes involving computer software, hardware, and Internet technologies. As a former engineer and a registered patent attorney, Lucky focuses on patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation for high-tech companies.
Lucky has litigated patent infringement disputes involving e-commerce software, middleware software, medical billing software, and SSL/TLS and RC4 encryption applications. On the hardware side, he has litigated cases involving digital signal processing chips, noise cancelling circuitry, touchscreen, power management technology, Power-over-Ethernet standard, and DOCSIS cable modem standard, among others. In addition, Lucky has represented clients in high-stakes trademark, copyright, and design patent litigation. Lucky also has experience with open source software.
Before becoming a lawyer, Lucky worked in the software and hardware industry for nearly 10 years, including as a software development consultant on complex projects to improve the nation’s response to earthquake, tsunami, and volcano disasters.
Lucky serves on the board of directors of the Nanda Center for International Law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He was a founding member of the Bench and Bar Society of the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross, and he has served on the Colorado Bar Association board of governors.
In 2011, Lucky was appointed by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia as the Honorary Consulate of Slovenia in Colorado. He maintains an active practice in both Colorado and California.
